Planning notes / Renovation

Before the first cabinet comes out.

A little preparation makes the renovation conversation clearer, particularly when the home will remain occupied.

01

Record the room as it is.

Photograph the overall kitchen, existing cabinets and worktop, utility connections and problem areas. Note anything that must stay. This is a starting record for discussion, rather than a substitute for a site assessment.

02

Understand the preparation work.

Ask what needs to happen before the kitchen installation begins. Removal, plumbing, electrical work and surfaces may need different trades. Confirm the responsibilities and sequence so a missing task does not become a surprise.

03

Plan a temporary routine.

Consider how the household will manage meals, drinking water and washing while the room is unavailable. Discuss access and protection for neighbouring rooms with the people carrying out the work.

04

Agree the decision points.

Know when the layout and finishes need to be final, which retained products need checking and how changes will be handled. Confirm the programme only after the scope and site requirements have been reviewed.

Make it yours.

Tell us about the room, the way you use it and what you would like to change.
